Hiking routs
Jack Sparrow, Tour De Lista, Vondestien or Mine Field! These are some of the hike possibilities that you can choose on Grønn Action – Lista 2010.
You might have heard of a hike before, but do you know what it is? Hike means that the patrol takes a trip with lodging and uses map and compass to find the way. Hike is often the highlight of the jamboree. Here are some hike-possibilities that Lista offers you.
Nordberg fort (adapted hike)
This is one of two adapted hikes and it is almost 7 km. It’s possible to do this in wheel cheer.
It is mostly in flat terrain except a rising in the end towards the night stop on Norberg fort.
The terrain is typical for Lista with fields and stone walls. The night stop at Nordberg fort has a beautiful view over Lista
and the ocean. The track follows asphalted roads which mean that there could be traffic. The first and last scout in the patrol
must therefore wear reflex vest.
Sausebakk
This hike is almost 12 km long and it goes through the flat strachtes of Listaland.
It partly follows low crowded roads in the area, but also paths along the sea and has a stop with Lista lighthouse. It changes
between flat fields and stone walls to outlying fields and copses along the sea, and will also going through Stave and Vestbygda.
It will be well marked paths or roads the whole route and you are going to sleep over at Verevågen, a little harbour.
Mine field
This hike is almost 17 km long and the whole tour gous through the flat strachets of Listraland. It partly follows low crowded roads in the area, but also paths along the sea. The night stop is at Nesheim and there it is both thickts if it will rain and more open fields. The special about this hike is that is goes through the old mine field.
Midge and tick
This hike is 13 km long, and the participants are taken to the starting point with bus. They will also be picked up by bus after finishing the route. Its location is the heathlands north of Listaøya. The tracks are well marked and most of the route goes through forest, except from Villheia were it will be a more open area. The night stop is at a lake called Frøystivannet. This is the kingdom of midges and ticks, so take your precautions and this will be a great hike.
Vondestien
This hike is 20 km long, and this is one of the greatest hikes in different landscapes.
The first kilometres are at roads and goes north of the camp. In the beginning you will go through a typical Lista landscape,
in other words a flat one. After you have passed the idyllic village Jøllestø the terrair will be hillier. From there it continue
on gravel roads a few kilometres until Sennekre where you follows a spectacular path besides the sea that will lead you till
the night stop Uddal. This is a peaceful and beautiful place. If you look to east you will see the sea and the sunset and
towards east you will see the forests that blocks for the wind.
On the second day you will follow the bumpy road until you reach a better one. From here you will go south through valleys and heaths and you will also cross Gråfåll with a great view. At the end you will pass Hervoll mill and the heaths will slowly disappear, and before arriving at campsite you will see Nordberg fort.
Surfers paradise
This hike is 22 km long. Imagine a hike walking the whole distance on a beach! It starts with transportation to Eikvåg, and from here you will walk down to Loshavn. From here the route follows a path that goes west, and the only hill is right away. After a few kilometres you are back on the beach and it goes by Lomsesanden camping. The manned post is at Einarsneset and if you are lucky you might see some of the wild sheep. It might be heavy walking in sand and there are also some paths a few meters up from the beach. The night stop is at Havika.
The routes continue the next day following beaches until reaching Nesheim where you will walk on smaller roads back to campsite. You will probable see some surfers while walking.
Jack Sparrow
This is a canoe hike that goes from Farsund centrum and around Øyna. There some bridges those are very low and only room for
one and one canoe. After reaching Øyna the route is north against Fremvaren which are a world famous fjord. Before reaching
Fremvaren you must pass the narrow area Straumen. This is were all the water comes in and out, so if there is low water it
might be a challenge to paddle in to Framvaren. When entered Framvaren you paddle along the land to the north side of the
fjord. There is tall and steep hills on the right hand side and you can only see settlements a few places. This is a top experience!
The night stop are covered with trhee mountains on the sides and is located all north of Framvaren. Farsund is an old pirate
town and therefore the name.
Participants must have their own canoe.
Dresin hike
(adapted hike)
You will be transported with buss to and from Flekkefjord. There your luggage can be taken on the rail tricycles. You will be using the railway between Flekkefjord and Sira which is about 17 km long. This should be manageable for all since you will be using railway tricycles.
There is room for three persons on each tricycle where two of them trudge. It might be cold in some of the 17 tunnels so our advice is to take along some extra clothes and a flash light. The night stop is right with the railway on a placed called Sira.
Tour de Lista, cycling
This is about 50 km long and goes through varied terrain which means that you will need a bike with decent brakes and all your luggage must be attached to the bike. You will experience lost of different and nice kinds of nature. It starts with the campsite and you will cycle north towards the sea. In the beginning you will cycle through little villages like Staev, Vere og Jølle and after this it will be more uplands. After some miles you will be cycling along the fjord Framvaren before you once again cycles into the uplands. The night stop is laid to a litte lake. Day two starts pleasant with a tour down to Åptafjorden and continue following this fjord until you coming south of Fremvaren. You are cycling back to the entrance of Framvaren and you are once again in the flat land of Lista. The last kilometres are through forrest before entering the campsite.
